Christmas Time in Gdansk

Tis the season to be Jolly. from Christmas markets to great food, Museums visits, Shopping malls and live shows. In Gdansk, Poland you will find it all and in a most festive mood. buckle up for the Ultimate guide for Christmas time in Gdansk.

Christmas Market (  Targ Węglowy ) :
Entering this Market is like entering a small village, you will find decorations and many food treats woolen scarves and socks, handmade jewelry, children's toys, mulled wine, hot cider and variety of food like bread, Sausages, homemade honey, jams and more... There is also  a carousel that can bring out the child in you, Big Santa chair and a stage to kiss under the Mistletoe ( How Romantic, right?), everything related to this market is plain perfection and the most important thing, it's not too crowded and you can walk freely and enjoy exploring every boot ( except Sunday which is pretty crowded).

Long Street ( Długi Targ ) :
One of the most touristic streets in Gdansk, mainly because of Neptune Fountain.
The street is covered with colorful and ornate houses, the Town Hall is just near the fountain and it's marvelous watch is one of his known landmarks. In the Long street, you will also find the magnificent four-arched Green Gate and many restaurants and museums.

Activities & Culture:
So much to see in Gdansk, you can read a little about all it has to offer and chose where to visit.
We Visited at St. Mary's Church and climbed 450 stairs just to see the view from above.
Note! it's not recommended for claustrophobic people and smokers because you will probably choke until you'll get up and the view is not that charming because everything is surrounded with fences and there is little space to see and take a picture but the view can get better, depends on what day you chose to visit, afternoons are best because of the perfect lightning.

Artus Court (Dwor Artusa) :
Behind the Neptune Fountain, standing on of the most known houses in Gdańsk- The Artus Court. The museum is one big Gothic hall and is dedicated to King Arthur.
It holds a selection of historical exhibits, Ships and Paintings.

Museum of the Second World War ( Muzeum II Wojny Światowej ) :

It's always interesting to see a museum from another point of view. The museum shows the polish point of view of the 2nd world war 2 and how many people fought " against" Germany  but what struck me the most ( and i might sound harsh) is the Disclaimer of responsibility of the Polish side. Where is the responsibility of taking a part in this horrific racial war against Jews, Blacks and more... lets not forget that all the biggest concentration camps were in Poland. From my point of view, there should be more concentration on telling the truth and less how many Polish soldiers died and dedicate a special part for the people that died for nothing on these lands.

Motlawa River Embankment (Dlugie Pobrzeze) :

Beautiful walk along Gdansk's waterfront and it is a must see during your visit. you will find many cafe's and restaurants, a lot of Amber shops and If you love photography, it's a great place as there is so many opportunities to make some amazing pictures.  personally i believe that best time to catch a perfect light in winter time is during the day and right before sunset.
